Sustainability is at the heart of our business

Sustainability in focus

As a company, we can be a part of the solution to global sustainability challenges. We have a unique opportunity to have real impact on the shift towards a sustainable and circular economy through our innovation, technology, and our products. Harbora Paper recently launched an ambitious sustainability strategy with equally ambitious targets. With a redefined purpose to Purify and Protect, with Every Fiber, for a Sustainable World. This is a bigger and bolder vision for our company than we have had in the past. By innovating and advocating new, sustainable solutions, we want to be a key enabler for our customers, suppliers, and partners. We recently completed reviewing the existing green claim guidance toward products. We desire to share our know-how with you to start the work together, and build more accurate communication about the environmental features of products.

People

Our employees will be key to driving and succeeding with positive change and are a natural priority for us as a company. We will continue our strong legacy and focus on health and safety, including mental well-being. We are continuously expanding our work within diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Planet

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint in line with a 1.5°C trajectory with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aim to become Net Zero by 2050 the latest. We will increase product lifecycle transparency and improve product end-of-life features, to meet and surpass increasing circularity demands.

Prosperity

Building on a foundation of strong business ethics, we work to achieve lasting profitability through a robust innovation platform to develop new sustainable fiber-based solutions.

The Harbora Paper production sites adhere to a range of internationally recognized, third-party audited sustainability standards to ensure compliance with our ambitious strategy.

Harbora Paper has strong processes and controls in place to secure compliance and good governance throughout our operations and value chain. Sustainability Policy

Our Sustainability Policy affirms Ahlstrom's commitment to continuous improvement in nine people, planet, and prosperity priority areas: human rights, community engagement, employee well-being, supply chain, energy, water and waste, carbon dioxide, profitability, innovation, and business ethics.

Sustainable Governance

Responsibility of the Group sustainability is with the Executive Vice President Science, Innovation and Sustainability with direct reporting line to Group President and CEO. Group Executive Management Team collectively approves the sustainability focus areas and targets.

Code of Conduct

Our code of conduct describes the ethical principles that direct the way we conduct business in our company, including complying with all laws and regulations, respecting human rights and the environment, maintaining a safe, healthy, and fair workplace, ensuring individual data privacy, acting as good citizen in our communities, and avoiding conflicts of interest. All suppliers, partners, and employees must sign the comprehensive code of conduct.
